Dr. Sabine Bommer - Principal Dentist
Sabine completed her Bachelor of Dental Science at The University of Melbourne and graduated in 1989. Sabine enjoys all aspects of dentistry, so much so that she has been a clinical demonstrator at The University of Melbourne for four years, overseeing and mentoring dental students in their first few years of clinical study.
After working in various practices across Melbourne, Sabine decided to commence her own practice in 2003 in Research. Since then, Sabine has strived to make Research Dental the dental practice that the community knows and loves today.
Sabine is especially passionate about caring for people’s oral health in their senior years. She enjoys building a relationship with her elderly patients to aid in providing the best care possible, tailored to their individual needs. Sabine has a kind and caring nature and a practical approach to the dental care of seniors.
In addition to English, Sabine also speaks fluent German.
When Sabine isn’t thinking about teeth, she enjoys playing golf, travelling, eating, and hanging out with her beloved furkids.
Dr. Leigh Kenny - Associate Dentist
Leigh studied Dental Science at The University of Melbourne, graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 1981. He spent the first ten years of his career working in country Victoria, gaining invaluable knowledge and skills in all facets of dentistry. Leigh then returned to work in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne, bringing with him a wealth of experience that he gained from those years in country areas.
Leigh has a very gentle, friendly nature and a great sense of humour. He has a very practical and understanding approach to dental treatment and will always thoroughly explain all possible options with his patients until they feel comfortable and confident. Due to Leigh’s gentle nature and understanding approach, he is excellent with children and adults who are feeling particularly anxious. He is committed to making every patient that sits in the dental chair feel at ease. Leigh enjoys being able to build a relationship with his patients and their families. As a result, many of his patients are families he has been seeing through the generations.
Like most of our patients, Leigh is a local, having lived in the area for many years. During Leigh’s time off, he enjoys listening to and playing music, cooking, tinkering at home and spending time at the beach with his family.
Dr. Uyen Tran - Associate Dentist
Uyen studied at The University of Melbourne, graduating in 1997 with a Bachelor of Dental Science. Uyen has a real eye for detail and is particularly skilled in improving overall aesthetics and functionality. Uyen’s philosophy is “to provide the best possible care to suit every patient’s individual circumstances”. To this end, she spends time tailoring treatment plans to suit individual budgets. Priority is placed on rehabilitating the dentition to health before complex aesthetic work. Uyen provides the full gamut of general dentistry, ranging from restorations, extractions, periodontal care, and routine root canal treatment. She places crowns and bridges for natural teeth, as well as implants. However, Uyen is equally happy to help people with more affordable options like aesthetic composite restorations and veneers.
Uyen speaks three languages. English is her first, but she also speaks Vietnamese and French.
Uyen loves spending time with her family, walking her Japanese Spitz and tending to her pet chickens. She enjoys Latin dancing, gardening, and reading.
Dr. Marilyn Ong - Associate Dentist
Marilyn graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Dentistry in 2006 with honours. She also obtained a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from the University of Adelaide in 2002. Marilyn has worked across Melbourne for 14 years in both public and private practices. She has a broad range of experience in restorative work, root canal treatment, implants, crown and bridgework, and extractions. Marilyn has a gentle approach and particularly enjoys helping anxious patients. She believes in providing a patient centred approach to treatment planning, and finds it very rewarding helping patients get to a stage where they feel comfortable and confident coming to the dentist.
Outside of dental life, Marilyn is a mother to two young children and a mischievous cat. She enjoys a good book, and a cup of tea on the couch, but also loves to travel.
