Dr. Sabine Bommer - Principal Dentist
BDSc (Melb)

Sabine graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from The University of Melbourne in 1989 and has been passionate about dentistry ever since. Her dedication to the profession led her to serve as a clinical demonstrator at her alma mater for four years, where she mentored and guided dental students in their early clinical training.

After gaining valuable experience working in various practices across Melbourne, Sabine established her own practice in Research in 2003. Since then, she has worked tirelessly to grow Research Dental into the trusted and friendly clinic it is today—known and loved by the local community.

Sabine enjoys all aspects of general dentistry but holds a special interest in caring for patients in their senior years. She takes pride in developing strong relationships with her elderly patients, offering tailored care that respects their unique needs. Her kind, compassionate nature and practical approach make her especially well-suited to supporting patients through every stage of life.

In addition to English, Sabine speaks fluent German.

Outside the clinic, Sabine enjoys playing golf, travelling, exploring new foods, and spending time with her beloved furkids.

Dr. Marilyn Ong - Associate Dentist
BDent (Hons) Syd, BBiomedSc Adel

Marilyn graduated with Honours from the University of Sydney in 2006 with a Bachelor of Dentistry, after completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Adelaide in 2002. With over 14 years of experience working in both public and private practices across Melbourne, Marilyn brings a broad and well-rounded skill set to the team.

She is highly experienced in a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative dentistry, root canal treatments, implants, crowns and bridges, and extractions. Marilyn is particularly known for her gentle and empathetic approach, and she finds great fulfilment in helping anxious patients feel more at ease. She believes in a patient-centred approach to care, taking the time to understand each person’s needs and goals to create tailored, effective treatment plans. Helping her patients build confidence and feel comfortable visiting the dentist is one of the most rewarding parts of her role.

Outside of work, Marilyn is a proud mum to two young children and a mischievous cat. She enjoys winding down with a good book and a cup of tea, and also loves to travel whenever she gets the chance.

Dr. Rosalind Peart - Associate Dentist BDS (Witwatersand)

Ros qualified from Witwatersrand University in 1989 and began her dental career in South Africa, working in the Gold Mining Industry before establishing her own private practice in the picturesque Cape Winelands. In 2004, she relocated to New Zealand, where she spent the next 20 years running a successful private practice in the beautiful town of Cambridge.

With over 35 years of experience in both public and private dental settings, Ros brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and a calm, caring approach to patient care. Her philosophy is rooted in preventive dentistry—her greatest professional satisfaction comes from helping patients reach a point where they require little more than routine maintenance and support for a healthy, stable smile.

Ros is also passionate about patient education. She works closely with individuals to deepen their understanding of the connection between oral health and overall well-being, and empowers them to take an active role in their long-term care. Her gentle and attentive manner is especially valued by patients who may be anxious or hesitant about dental treatment.

Having recently moved to Melbourne to be closer to family, Ros is excited to bring her experience and enthusiasm for holistic, patient-focused care to the team at Research Dental.

Outside the clinic, Ros can usually be found gardening, walking her dogs, or scanning the treetops in search of her favourite bird—the Tawny Frogmouth.

Dr. Uyen Tran - Associate Dentist

Uyen graduated from The University of Melbourne in 1997 with a Bachelor of Dental Science. With a keen eye for detail and a strong focus on aesthetics and function, Uyen is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles tailored to their individual needs.

Her treatment philosophy is simple: “to provide the best possible care to suit every patient’s individual circumstances.” She takes the time to create personalised treatment plans that respect both clinical needs and budget considerations. Uyen places a strong emphasis on restoring oral health before progressing to more complex aesthetic treatments.

Uyen offers a comprehensive range of general dental services, including restorative work, extractions, periodontal care, and routine root canal therapy. She also provides crown and bridge work for both natural teeth and implants. At the same time, she’s a firm believer in accessible, high-quality care—offering affordable options such as aesthetic composite restorations and veneers to help patients achieve pleasing results without unnecessary expense.

In addition to English, Uyen speaks Vietnamese and French fluently.

Outside of dentistry, Uyen enjoys a vibrant and well-rounded lifestyle. She loves spending time with her family, walking her Japanese Spitz, and caring for her pet chickens. Her hobbies include Latin dancing, gardening, and getting lost in a good book.
